Walk on the wild side...literally. Schedule a guided tour to experience the Piedmont region's seasonal flora and fauna! Are you a resident of the region and want to learn how to find the species you only see in books? Are you an Airlie Center Conferee seeking a refreshing and relaxing break from intensive meetings? Let an Environmental Studies interpreter lead your group on a visit to our field station to bask in the beauties of nature. We will tailor the tour to your group's interests, whether broad or specialized. Popular topics include early morning birding, winter waterfowl, the swan collection, wildflowers, native plant species, alien invasive plant species, the apiary, butterflies, amphibians, evening owl hooting, woodcock courtship flights and frog calling, or just discovering the mix of species that is observable at a given time of year and learning what we do on the field station. Tours are scheduled from 1-2 hours in length, depending upon the group's wishes.. Fees are $10 per person with a minimum of five people (or $50). Tour fees help fund our free Community Events and purchase materials for K-12 education programs. Call Cindy 540-349-3331 or email her at cshea@envstudies.org to schedule or inquire about a tour possibility. |
